Arriving on site, we setup what would be our home for the week - our tents! We had a tour of Badaguish which has an under cover football pitch, climbing frame and play areas. After our first meal we went for a walk around Loch Morlich, stopping at the beach for a quick paddle and game of football and frisbee.

On Sunday we attended St. Andrews Church in Aviemore in the morning, before heading to the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore. Here Boys had the chance to see what life was like 100 years before, learning to write using ink and quill in the old schoolhouse and visiting a model farm. The Boys favourite however was the old style sweet shop. In the evening we had a Treasure Hunt around Aviemore, with Boys having to solve a series of clues around the town.

On Monday we had an activity day with Tracey and Ian from Active Spirit. In the morning we went canoeing on Loch Morlich. Boys learned various skills and were awarded with a PaddlePower Level 1 certificate for their efforts. In the afternoon we went to nearby Glenmore Lodge for archery. Boys got to learn the basics and competed against each other in various games and challenges. In the evening the Boys started their inter-tent games, playing Jenga, boules, chess etc to gain points for their teams.

We started off Tuesday by visiting Craggan near Grantown on Spey for football golf. Each Boy was given a football and had to play the 9 hole golf course by kicking the ball towards the hole. After a picnic lunch we had 18 holes of putting. In the evening we went to Loch Morlich where we went mountain biking. Guided by our instructors we spent a couple of hours on the trails around Glenmore, passing over bridges, speeding downhill and going through small streams. We were rewarded with a visit to the picturesque Lochan Uaine (The Green Loch).

After breakfast on Wednesday, we set off on our main hillwalk for the week, a circuit of the hills above our campsite, taking in Craiggowrie and Creagan Gorm. We had good weather for the day’s walk, stopping for lunch atop one of the peaks. We had great views over Loch Morlich and the Cairngorm mountains. As well as being rewarded with great views from the summit, we were also treated to a medley of bagpipe tunes from Ben. With the Boys having an energetic day, we relaxed at night with a movie night back at Badaguish.

On Thursday we had a visit to the historic, but still used, barracks near Inverness, Boys had a chance to tour Fort George and visit it’s various museums and followed an audio tour. Afterwards Boys had free time in inverness to look round the shops and visit the Victorian Market. In the evening we visited Inverness Leisure Centre for a swimming session, with Boys spending most of their time on the 3 water flumes. Once we returned to Camp we held our quiz.

We finished our days out with a visit to Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Boys enjoyed treetop trails, waterslides, a roller coaster and lots more.

Back at site, the Boys tried to cross Badaguish’s pond using the aerial rings, with mixed results! We then had our BBQ and relaxed with another movie and ice cream to see the week out.
