Our 2015 camp was held at Badaguish near Aviemore

The Boys spent the week under canvas and enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the week, both on site and in the surrounding area. Below is a diary of the week's activities:

We arrived at camp on Saturday afternoon and set about putting up our tents and making ourselves at home for the week. After dinner we walked round nearby Loch Morlich and played football on the beach.

On Sunday we attended a Church service in Aviemore, in the afternoon we visited the Highland Folk Museum where Boys stepped back in time and saw how people lived in years gone by. This included an old farm, sweet shop and school. The Boys took part in a 'lesson' from a 1920s era school teacher and learnt how to write with ink and quill. At night we ventured into Aviemore and completed a Treasure Hunt around the town.

Monday was spent on the water at Loch Morlich with Boys split up into groups. One took part in kayaking in the morning and mountain biking in the afternoon, th other did windsurfing and kayaking. It was a really enjoyable day with Boys learning new skills as well as having lots of fun. This activity was supported by the Cashback for Communities Small Grants Scheme. At night the Boys and Staff took part in a quiz which featured general knowledge, music and picture rounds.

On Tuesday the Boys visited the Osprey Centre and then visited the Reindeers around Glenmore. The Boys had a chance to learn about and feed the reindeers.

On Wednesday we set of for a long day spent hillwalking. We first left Badaguish and headed into the woods arriving at the picturesque An Lochan Uaine for Lunch. We then set off towards Meall a' Bhuachaille, a 810 metre Corbett hill. This was very tough going, but with good weather conditions and helping each other, the Boys were rewarded with fantastic views over the Cairngorms at the top. At night, the Boys understandably shattered from the day's walk, relaxed by watching a movie back at camp.

Thursday we set off for Inverness and it's aquatic centre where Boys enjoyed swimming and flumes, we then had some free time for shopping.

On Friday the Boys visited 'Treezone', where they had to complete 2 high ropes courses away up in the forest. The Boys and Officers managed to complete these and were rewarded with a zip line slide at the end. Friday evening was spent completing our team games such as Jenga and table tennis, and of course the staff Snakes and Ladders tournament. Those who were brave enough tried to cross Badaguish's pond using the aerial rings, most got soaked.

On Saturday we got up early, packed up our tents and headed back to Aberdeen with new friendships made and looking forward to next year.
